Zorays Solar Pakistan renewable energy
How did you get the idea to Zorays Solar Pakistan?
The idea of Zorays Solar Pakistan was conceived at an International Conference for Renewable Energy while I was visiting Tokyo back in 2013. I realized that there existed a whole new segment to cater to concerning Renewable Energy Technologies back home where we could embed cutting-edge high quality components with reasonable services conjoining both the service and product aspect of the business creating a solutions market which entailed after-sales (never seen before beyond guarantees).
How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
There had been abuse of technology before we even started. To bring the concept of warranties where people paid a mandatory premium subscription price for first 18 months in lieu of vague so-called sweeping guarantees extended to several years knowing most of the business offering those won’t last that while and were there for easy money minting.
Who is your target audience?
To be very frank, we focus and target only the client who has a clear vision to take this as an energy conservation strategy and not an investment opportunity to reduce their electricity bills or replace their power back up alone. This involves them understanding optimization strategies we lay out to them and them become able to compare apples to apples.
What is the USP of your startup?
Our unique selling point is the critical methodology we adopt to introduce innovative and efficient energy conservation strategies entailing solid after-sales services. We have two registered patents and eyeing for the third one.
Can you describe a typical workday of you?
We begin our day at work with prayers to Al-Mighty Allah and doing follow ups on previous days’ leads via Telephonic Conversations mostly. In the later part of first half, we look forward to welcome our clients who have previously scheduled appointments with us. The second half is field work mostly. This field work may involve visits to execution sites. More importantly, Thursday is a strictly business development run where we pitch to our corporate clients. We have casual Fridays and Saturdays.
Where do you see yourself and your startup Zorays Solar Pakistan in five years?
We are currently operating in 26 cities across Pakistan and aim to cover almost every span of the country making our product and services available in 150 different cities altogether.
What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?
Startup founders should come out of their skin as soon as they could. This needs a little of hustle but no one will bite you if you fail to impress them with your idea. Pitch your idea to unexplored people. This will help them discover new horizons they did not imagine in the first place. This would also mean they need to be flexible to invite growth. Build an MVP in the very early stages of your startup and by the time use insights such as consumer behaviour and financial traction to predict future and adopt.
