STARBUZZ: accelerating digital commerce and logistics startups

STARBUZZ: The new, independent accelerator has started its first application phase

STARBUZZ, the first independent digital commerce accelerator, was for the first time presented publicly on March 9 during Tengelmann eDay in front of 400 top representatives of leading trade corporations, startups and investors. The accelerator used its public announcement to open the application phase for B2B and B2C startups in ecommerce and logistics. Applications are accepted until June 30, 2017.

STARBUZZ offers an intensive program to support digital commerce and logistics startups in refining and scaling their business models and to secure seed or growth funding. Leading companies from B2B and B2C commerce, logistics and manufacturing as well as specialist mentors from renowned IT, marketing, business development, law and finance firms form the extensive network that the accelerator provides for promising startups.

With its base in Mülheim an der Ruhr, STARBUZZ is located at the heart of Europe in the Rhine-Ruhr region, Germany’s powerhouse in trade and logistics. There is no other place where digital commerce and logistics startups can find a better ecosystem: proximity to customers and client firms, an excellent infrastructure and the densest university network combined with the largest student talent pool in Germany and Europe are the most prominent factors that help taking startups forward.

STARBUZZ is coordinated by Mülheim & Business GmbH. Managing Director Jürgen Schnitzmeier states: “With STARBUZZ, we will support startups that have promising and innovative business models in ecommerce and logistics. Together with our corporate partners, we will help them in speeding up the time-to-market process and provide specialist expertise for scaling up their business model.”

What makes STARBUZZ special is its independence, while at the same time being backed by numerous leading companies with excellent resources and channels for promising startups. STARBUZZ program manager Thomas Müller explains: “We do not offer investment capital for a stake in startups that are admitted into our program. We honor the freedom of founders. Startups have the opportunity to pitch and select their investing partner during or at the end of the accelerator program in order to secure seed or growth financing.”

STARBUZZ encourages startups from Germany and abroad to apply for the accelerator program. The application deadline is June 30, 2017. The first startup batch will start into the accelerator program in September 2017 in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
