Splento is an app/website-based platform that is the pioneer of on demand photography where you can hire a professional photographer in under a minute. With Splento, you can hire a professional photographer for any event or occasion in London, Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester within two hours of booking and get your photos delivered to you in less that 48 hours. We aim to make professional photography easier, cheaper and faster than ever before.

How did you get the idea to Splento?
As a serial entrepreneur, I had to use photographers on my numerous businesses and always had the same problem of finding a reasonably priced photographer, available at a particular time and day. It was always a nightmare, with last minute cancellations, delays and for pictures that were needed urgently weren’t delivered for a week, sometimes a month. Splento was born out of the idea that there was a flaw in the system for which there had to be a simpler and faster solution to hire credible photographers anytime, anywhere. This is a major problem for professionals in any industry needing a photographer that’s easily accessible with a click of a button hence the inception of Splento came into play.

How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
Very difficult! No one had invented anything like this and we did not have a model to copy from existing businesses. There were a few market places like a glorified Google where you can look at a photographer’s ratings and portfolio but nothing quite as unique as Splento.
We built a scalable system from scratch unlike any model that exists in the market. Splento provides a complete solution that allows you to hire experienced photographers at any given time and we provide high quality photographs directly to the user combined with a great experience.

Who is your target audience?
First and foremost any event managers/professionals and everyone that organizes events. We also cater to any individuals not just necessarily businesses. Everyone that is organizing parties whether it’s a birthday or a Christmas party, look books, headshots, fashion campaigns, weddings, anywhere a photographer is needed that is our target audience. Everyone needs photography at one point in their lives and we provide a fair priced service accessible to everyone.

What is the USP of your startup?
We provide photographers in under a minute with photos delivered in 48 hours. We have different packages where if needed one can even get their photos the very same day. One simply has to go on our app/website select the occasion, pick the time and location and we’ll be there within 2 hours, it’s a system that we have tried, tested and triumphed. What we guarantee is consistent quality and a great experience for the end user.

Can you describe a typical workday of you?
For any CEO of a start-up, it’s ensuring that the goals you set for your company are achieved to the max. For me, a typical day would comprise of team meetings discussing progress, finding solutions to the challenges one faces as a start-up and anything we can help each other with. It is also imperative to not get comfortable when running a start up so at Splento, we pride ourselves in constantly improving our current services, working on new products and staying on track. Calling and meeting with potential partners and investors.

Where do you see yourself and Splento in five years?
Easy! Splento will be the largest photography company, marketplace in the world, servicing 20,000 clients a day. We are on track to do so.

What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?
1) It’s always about teamwork, without a great team you’re screwed! (Not sure if you can use that)
2) Building a start-up always takes a lot longer than you plan, so you must have perseverance
3) Raising money and talking to investors can be very tough as most of them don’t understand the business that you’re in so find the right ones compatible to the industry you’re in and that invest in unique ideas
