Founder of volunteerism platform honored by Forbes 30 Under 30 list

Social entrepreneur Pascal Christiaens from Düsseldorf/Germany added to Forbes list of top 30 super achievers

Pascal Christiaens, founder and CEO of Volunteer World GmbH in Germany, was included in the category “Social Entrepreneurship” in the third annual “Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe” list. This list of the US business magazine honors 300 young innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders in Europe under the age of 30, who are transforming our world in the areas of technology, finance, business, media, culture and social entrepreneurship. The candidates were selected by the most successful and renowned personalities of each category. The members of this year’s “Forbes 30 Under 30” list have been chosen from thousands of nominations and through research by Forbes’ editors across all of Europe. The full list of selected candidates was announced on Monday evening (22.01.2018) in London and can be found at: https://www.forbes.com/30-under-30-europe/2018

Pascal ChristiaensIn 2015, Pascal Christiaens (29) and Christian Wenzel (32) founded the Volunteer World comparison platform for international volunteer work. The social start-up makes it possible to compare voluntary services according to one’s own ideas and to apply directly to the desired aid organization. The detour via a specialized travel agency that has been necessary so far is thus omitted. This saves volunteers a lot of time and money all while having a range of 1,300 volunteer programs in more than 80 countries to choose from.

Outstanding young personalities are featured in the “Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe” list in a total of 10 categories – Arts, Entertainment, Finance, Commerce, Media, Politics, Retail & E-Commerce, Science & Health, Social Entrepreneurship and Technology – and each of the awardees was examined by a panel of experts of each field.

“The Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list comprises the most impressive young entrepreneurs that are reshaping Europe, and the world, for the better,” said Randall Lane, Editor of Forbes and CCO at Forbes Media. “In addition to receiving thousands of online nominations, our reporters combed the European continent for leading innovators in all ten fields. Our industry-leading judges distilled the shortlist to 300 outstanding individuals that are changing the world for the better.”

The jury has created a unique list of the 300 most extraordinary personalities that make a difference in our world. Judges in the Social Entrepreneurship category were Cheryl Dorsey (USA, President of Echoing Green), French philanthropist Alexandre Mars and Randall Lane, COO of Forbes Media.

Volunteer World was already able to succeed in several competitions based on its sustainable concept. Next to the title “Best Start-up Düsseldorf 2015”, the title “Best Start-up Rheinland 2016” in the follow-up competition was obtained. The young company was also nominated as the best start-up in Germany in the category “Travel/Tourism” in the same year. Furthermore, in the same year the start-up was nominated as Germany’s best start-up in the category “Travel/Tourism” and is listed in the “Top 100 Social Enablers Index” since 2017.
