LiveCare medical Alert device to stay in touch with family and the caregiver
Please introduce yourself and your startup LiveCare to our readers!
My name is Peri Avitan and I’m the Founder/CEO of LiveCare. I have spent 17 years in the Medical Alert industry (call for help wireless buttons). About a year and half ago, I, and my co-founders, decided to take the Medical Alert industry to the next level by creating the next generation medical alert device which is a waterproof device that has Wi-Fi, Cellular, GPS, LCD display, and cameras.
How did you get the idea to LiveCare?
The idea came from my day to day interaction with the hundreds of senior living facilities that I have worked with as the largest B2B Medical Alert distributor.
How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
It was an adjustment to move from running Medical Alert device distribution to creating them. Starting from scratch was a huge challenge and I was sometimes working three shifts. I found myself flying from our headquarters in NYC to our lab in San-Diego once a week for over a year.
Who is your target audience?
Medical Alert users, mainly seniors living in seniors living communities and home care patients, but more than that, the entire community of baby-boomers approaching retirement.
What is the USP of your startup?
The LiveCare device is the first and only Medical Alert device that works with Wi-Fi, Cellular, and GPS that allows you to stay in touch with family and the caregiver at any given time using the LCD touch screen display and 2-way video communication.
Can you describe a typical workday of you?
Mornings start with a good run or spinning class, then jumping on a call with our engineering team, and then heading to our pilot sites. The day ends with an event, either an industry or start-up event.
Where do you see yourself and your startup LiveCare in five years?
Our goal is to lead the Medical Alert industry worldwide and to be a front-runner in the arena, providing innovative technology and our smart, easy-to-use products to those in a need of Medical Alert solution.
What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?
1) Don’t do it all yourself. Find co-founders that bring other skills and experience to the table.
2) Use other entrepreneur’s experience. Make a point to connect with other entrepreneurs and learn from each of them.
3) Dedicate yourself to your idea and focus on it as much as you can. Work hard and don’t give up. Creating a market leader takes a lot of hardworking hours.
