Funding will accelerate International expansion and product development.
The meta search engine has launched its German, English, Italian, French and Mexican markets.
Hundredrooms, the leading vacation rental metasearch engine in Spain, has announced today a €4M Series A investment, led by SEAYA Ventures, and joined by Mediaset and existing investors INVEREADY, BANKINTER, ATRESMEDIA and MEDIA DIGITAL Ventures. The current round of capital brings total equity financing since the company’s founding to 11 million Euros.
Hundredrooms, founded in 2014 and based in Palma de Mallorca, is the leading vacation rental metasearch engine in Spain. Its unique technology allows customers to check and compare prices for accommodations in most vacation rental websites in a single search. Their engine matches and compares prices from almost 7 million properties worldwide from partners like Airbnb, House Trip, Homeaway, Booking.com amongst others. The company will have more than 7 million searchable vacation rental offers by the end of 2017 allowing users to filter by features, set alerts, recommendations, etc. all accessible from its recently launched App. The company has increased its team counting already 60 people, 40 of them only dedicated to positions of technology and product.
Hundredrooms will use their investment capital to consolidate its international expansion in France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany. In addition, it will be used to strengthen product development, launch new services and to advance the development of the mobile application.
The comparator has developed new functionalities that allow users to save between 25% and 35% in the final price of the accommodation. In addition, the tool can already predict whether a holiday rental of similar characteristics that a user searches for may have differing prices by changing the selected dates.
The prediction associated with each search shows the user apartments of similar ratings using Hundredrooms unique algorithm. The specific formula organises the properties in relation to price, opinion and ratings.
José Luis Martínez, CEO and founder of Hundredrooms, said: “During 2016 we have focused on building the best product of the market with a superior team with more than 40 people working on technology and product roles and also in consolidating our market leader position in Spain. We are now well positioned to accelerate our European and LATAM expansion and to become the category leader in those countries”.
Beatriz González, founding partner of SEAYA Ventures, said: “The vacation rental space is the fastest growing category in the travel sector (35% yoy); we believe metasearchers will lead this category in the future, as they have done in flights or hotels. Hundredrooms is the best positioned company to become the leader, given its outstanding team and a very sophisticated technology that can match properties identifying substantial price differences; this is a very compelling value proposition for consumers which translates into recurrence and loyal users”.
Katia Rizzo, representative of Ad4ventures (venture capital arm of Mediaset Group) commented: “we expect Hundredrooms to consolidate its leadership in the Spanish and Italian markets with television support in both countries and become a relevant global player in a promising growing market”.
