Green City Solutions Co-Founder Dénes Honus is Member of the Forbes “30 Under 30 Europe” list
Forbes launched its inaugural “30 Under 30 Europe” list, were they present 300 young leaders in ten sectors who are changing our world. Dénes Honus, CEO of the German start-up Green City Solutions, is among the “30 Under 30” Social Entrepreneurs. The category honors leaders who are leveraging business tools to solve the world’s problems.
London – On January 19th, Forbes presented the first ever “30 Under 30 Europe” list. Forbes itself is a global media company focusing e.g. on business, finance and investing, technology and marketing topics. The list features 300 young Europeans across ten categories: The Arts, Entertainment, Finance, Industry, Media, Policy, Retail and E-Commerce, Science and Health Care, Social Entrepreneurs and Technology. The unique list of innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs was announced by a panel of expert judges.

Dénes Honus and the “30 Under 30 Europe” list
Dénes Honus (29) is now among the first ever “30 Under 30 Europe” list in the category “Social Entrepreneurs”. Together with five other German entrepreneurs he was honored by the judges Hugh Evans, Sir Ronald Cohen, Cheryl Dorsey and Jean Case. The social leaders are from 16 countries, e.g. United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Spain and Portugal.
Dénes Honus founded Green City Solutions in 2014 along with a Sino-German team of experts in architecture, computer science, engineering and horticulture. The German company is a biotech and IoT startup leading the way in the business of air pollution reduction. Dénes Honus is experienced in UI/UX Design and focused on the management side of the business. He is an architect by training and was part of the design team of London’s Shard (Europe’s highest skyscraper) after spending three years teaching technology at the University of Dresden. He received his Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.) in Architecture from Dresden University of Technology (DUT) and his Master of Architecture and Urban design (M.Arch.), from Ecole nationale supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg. In 2015, Dénes Honus spent three month building the Asian market entry for his start-up in Hong Kong as part of the first Infiniti Accelerator driven by NEST.
To fight the global problem of air pollution, the architect developed the “CityTree” together with Peter Sänger, Victor Splittgerber and Zhengliang Wu. The freestanding solution contains a moss cultures supplied through cutting-edge IoT-technology and filters urban air as good as up to 275 normal urban trees – on 99% less space and 10 times more cost effective. The CityTrees have a reach of up to 50 m and thanks to IoT-technology, solar power and water storage, they only need a few hours of maintenance each year. To ensure the profitability of the CityTree, implementation of visual and digital information on the vertical plant display for marketing campaigns is possible. Integrated benches and the offer of additional services, such as Wi-Fi hotspot or e-bike charging stations extend the functionality of the vertical plant filter.
