Solve a problem you have to solve

AlphaVoice: We instantaneously convert your podcast or youtube channel into a conversational AI experience

How did you get the idea to AlphaVoice?
I have always had a passion and almost obsession with audio content and sound. When I read Mary Meeker’s internet report in 2017 and one thing popped out at me Computers on average understand what people say 96% of the time while people only understand people 95% of the time on average. The conclusion and thesis I had is that if the goal of speaking is to be understood, then people will talk to computers more then they talk to other people. While a scary thought it seem inevitable. After building multiple prototypes it became apparent that high quality audio content was missing on amazon echo devices. So Let’s bring high quality content to echo devices and that’s where the journey began.

How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
The Real difficulty is educating the audience on why this voice wave is bigger then the mobile wave. We are a bit ahead of the wave and I believe by 2019 we are in an extremely advantageous position if we continue to build and do good work.

Who is your target audience?
Podcasters, Youtubers and Marketers that want to dominate voice search and voice assitant applicaitons.

What is the USP of your startup?
We instantaneously convert your podcast or youtube channel into a conversational AI experience. It is a really neat experience and just feels cool way to consume content for consumers. For Content Creators they get access to a new channel and get to experiment with voice.

Can you describe a typical workday of you?
Get the kids ready, hop on the train and begin to write content and answer emails. When I get to the office I write out the plan for the day for 15-20 minutes and write out exactly what I want to complete that day. I then check the calendar and see where I have 3-4 hour time block to code and then block that time out. Do biz dev and calls throughout the day educating the customer. I take notes the whole time so I can use what I said to write content or make videos about the pitch later.

I periodically answer any questions the team has in slack and keep chipping away at the daily goals. Have a strategy session at least once a day with a team member and make sure to do a plus check on progress. Try to get in some exercise every 2-3 days and spend some quality time every night at dinner. I am blessed to be able to work on and build this great company.

Where do you see yourself and your startup AlphaVoice in five years?
Great question I see voice technology taking over and everyone talking to themselves in their alexa base airpods. We will be a Content vehicle for this wave. When Videos came to the web youtube became available, I see ourselves as the Youtube/Spotify of the voice enabled wave. Conversational Interfaces are an inherently new User Experience and we have a really great Voice based user experience that will only get better.

What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?
1) Exercise 2-3 times a week is mandatory.
2) Solve a problem you have to solve.
3) Have a Unique Distribution technique for your Product Channel fit. Look at Brian Balfour’s blog about this.
